Namaste

So I've practiced yoga off and on for about 5 years now and generally feel at peace once I have finished a session. It is a very settling activity for both body and mind, not to mention quite challenging in certain poses. During and after the session, the instructor says 'Namaste' and bows their head to the class. I've always just kind of said it back, not really understanding it. Today, during my session, I think I finally got it. Basically, nama means "to bow" and te means "you." But it's so much more than that. Check it out:

Interpretation:
"The Spirit within me recognizes and honors the Spirit within you."

"I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells,
I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Truth, of Light and of Peace,
When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One."

“The God(dess) in me greets and honors the God(dess) in you.”

"I salute the divine qualities in you."

"My soul bows to your soul.”

Mudra of Namaste:

Hands are held together at the palms in front of the heart or brow chakra. Head is bowed slightly downward. Eyes are sometimes closed.

Equalizer:
Namaste is significant because it is a humbling gesture. Namaste is done as a recognition that we are all on equal standings, all of us are children of divinity. We are one.

Pronunciation:
Nah-mah-stay

Emily goes to Faire!

She is no longer a virgin ;) I hope Em had as much fun trying it out as I had dressing her up and showing her around! We hung out with my old pal Staci from DL for a while and basically just had a good time. And I started putting together my gypsy costume, the 'hippies' of Faire. Watch out folks, Becky's getting dirtier.

Faire!!! (yea, again)

It was super hot yesterday, but Angel, Dave, Mario and I braved the elements and went to Ren Faire again :) I borrowed garb from the other Becky and showed off a different look, loving the cooler material. I am completely addicted to this weird world, and completely OK with that!

Switzer Falls!!

Finally we got to use our Adventure Pass again!! It was the perfect day for a great hike, and the falls were flowing beautifully :) This hike is just off Highway 2 in the Angeles Forest and comes highly recommended, as long as you go during the week so it's not too crowded. Check out more pics HERE!

Faire with the Spiltbeer Pirates

Slightly different than faire with the Savages & MacDaddys. First of all, there's Ale Stand Zero, where you get warmed up before even entering Faire. Sooo much fun... The day went by way too quickly and we didn't even see any shows! Whew!! I can't wait to go back. I'm definitely a fairenerd.

i don't get it...

Social Networking: Some of us use websites, such as Twitter, Facebook and Myspace to communicate with and learn about people whom we might not otherwise talk to. It's a very interesting phenomenon, and I subscribe to a few of these sites to the fullest extent. There is one thing I do NOT understand. Why hide your information from everyone? If you have something to hide, just don't post it on the site. Otherwise, why are you even a member? Do you think people are stalking you? Do you have extremely sensitive information posted? You must be very important, or very paranoid. The whole point of something like Twitter or Facebook is to find people you'd like to communicate with. If you hide it all, why would people want to 'follow' you, or become your 'friend'? douche. That's my rant.

My Birthday Beach Blowout :)

My pals joined me for my birthday at the beach for a little funtime volleyball action and kite flying madness. We finished up with a quick beer at Mo's... It was a REALLY great time :) Thanks everyone for coming and celebrating with me!!
