Carbon Canyon

I took my dad's dog Jewel for a hike/walk through Carbon Canyon a couple weekends ago. Couldn't resist the intense sky and the sullen mood it projected on the park.

One of our weekly activities has been going to the driving range. I'm definitely not getting better, even while wearing my new pink batting gloves... Good times with Henry!

Pirate's Adventure!

What a sweet show!! Henry and i were seated in the rowdy gangstah east LA high schooler section :) which made it all the more entertaining. This show is - I'm gonna say it - probably better than any dinner/show I've been to. (doesn't say much, since i've only seen the cowboy one and Medieval times, but still!) We cheered all night for the red pirate - Jack, and today i've got a sore throat, but it was well worth it. I had a fabulous time, thanks Henry :) How are we gonna top this one??

so, i'm pretty happy right now...

just wanted to say that... I've been single for quite a while, and have gotten pretty used to it. My life has consisted of a string of meaningless flings (save a couple of long term relationships), but it's possible... just maybe.... that I'm capable of more. Lately my heart has been doing cartwheels and I'm not sure what to make of it.

work!

Just wanted to share the product of my hard work for the past 4 months. This is the new promo piece for my company. My job was to brainstorm for ideas, gather the talent, help with scripts, arrange for filming, assist with production... pretty much everything except actually film this stuff. Whew!! I'm so happy with how it came out :)

again

I'm getting to that point in my life. the older i get, the more people i will lose. A few months ago my good friend Beth lost her father to cancer. It was and continues to be rough for her and her mother. You expect and can accept the death of a grandparent once they've reached a certain age, but when parents start passing away it's a lot harder.

My friend Kelly's father just passed away a few days ago... again, complications stemming from cancer. It seems unfair that with all of the technological advances we've seen, cancer is still so prevalent. I feel deep sympathy for Kelly and his family, as they did not see this coming, and definitely did not expect it to happen so suddenly. It seems as though family history has nothing to do with it, not a smoker, etc...

I've begun to think about my own parents. Though my mom seems healthy enough, i worry about my dad. He's never been in the best shape, has adult onset diabetes (just like his father), and doesn't really take care of himself. On one hand, i want him to be happy and not worry about it. But on the other, I don't want to worry about him.. living alone with his dog in the hills. I've never experienced the death of a close friend or family member. My family is all on the east coast and all of my grandparents died before i was 10. I can't help but wonder how i'll deal when this happens to me. **sigh**

I will not be ashamed!

My good pal and coworker Kurt Hilmerson brought his 8 month old daughter, Liv, in to work today. now, we all know that Becky doesn't like kids, but this kid was super chill. I had a blast hanging out with her in the office and during lunch. She wanted to sit at the bar, so we ordered her a margarita and she hung out with the big kids. So much fun! Thanks for bringing her in Kurt :)

Walking tour of Buena Park

Henry and i have a standing date on Thursdays in Buena Park. We've gone to the batting cages, the driving range, movies, dinner, shopping etc.. Time for something new! We ended up walking about 3 miles along Beach Blvd, just hanging out and acting like fools. We had just as much fun as always, topping it off by slamming it up at Denny's. yea, dorks. so what.

I think I'm becoming a Faire nerd...

Henry invited me back, this time to join in the mega feast for the MacDaddy clan. I had even MORE fun the 2nd time!! I'm being sucked into this crazy world of pirates, gypsies & kilts. I 'might' have to become an official kilt checker...

To follow up the Torrance 100, our HR dept. decided to hold a spoon relay in the parking lot. We formed teams of 4, passing a chocolate egg to each other without using our hands. The community department (give it up for me, em, lisa & Leo!) won our first heat. We were far too excited about the contest, practicing between rows of cubicles and wearing team uniforms - but that's why we get along i suppose. we're all completely nuts! Fun times, including a wheel of prizes - Becky came home with a rolling backpack cooler with a big red B on the front. B, for Becky :)

Renaissance Faire

Henry invited me to go to Ren Faire with him and his Clan, the MacDaddys, at the Santa Fe Dam on Saturday. Holy crap!!! THE best day of people watching EVER. Now I thought i was weird.... see below :) However, these people are completely out of their minds - and i LOVED it. Henry's mom is one of the founding members of their clan and had all kinds of costume pieces for me to choose from. (i did not want to 'stand out' from the crowd). I'm trying to figure out when I can return for more!!!! Thanks Henry :)

My pals are the best. I asked them to dress up as superheroes for my birthday and amazingly, most of them actually did it!.. Then we went to the bowling alley - in costume. This was the best gift anyone could ever give me :) Even my Mom showed up in costume!

Eaton Canyon Hike

i think i'm pretty special and that i shouldn't have to work on my birthday... so this year i decided to roll out to Pasadena for a hike in the foothills. My old stomping ground! Took some fun pics and finally understand why i shouldn't go for hikes by myself. Let's just say i rushed out of that canyon in a BIG hurry. I'm fine, and i'm glad i followed my instincts (better late than never). Maybe i'll take that self defense course after all!
