My pals are the best. I asked them to dress up as superheroes for my birthday and amazingly, most of them actually did it!.. Then we went to the bowling alley - in costume. This was the best gift anyone could ever give me :) Even my Mom showed up in costume!

Eaton Canyon Hike

i think i'm pretty special and that i shouldn't have to work on my birthday... so this year i decided to roll out to Pasadena for a hike in the foothills. My old stomping ground! Took some fun pics and finally understand why i shouldn't go for hikes by myself. Let's just say i rushed out of that canyon in a BIG hurry. I'm fine, and i'm glad i followed my instincts (better late than never). Maybe i'll take that self defense course after all!

Em's Housewarming

Lisa and I headed over to Emily's on Saturday night to help her celebrate newfound freedom in her West LA apartment. These girls are my crazy coworkers that I couldn't live without. They truly make coming to work a joy :)

Life seems a little brighter now. I love meeting up with friends i haven't seen in a while.. and it's awesome to reconnect with friends from the distant past. I'm at a good place in my life and moving forward at a steady pace. :)

5 days in Las Vegas. Holy Crap. never again! The tradeshow was awesome, and our booth looked fantastic! We got a ton of good comments and everyone LOVED our speakers. I feel honored to be a part of this awesome group. Props to Lisa for organizing it all!! We had a great party at Risque in the Paris Hotel on Monday night with a photobooth. Maybe i'll post those pics later... We also headed over to a sweet party for BluDomain that was held in a Mansion a little off the strip. Tons of fun!! and i'm still recovering.

Scared to Death

So I've finally found a reason to stop drinking. It seems that my body is now completely rejecting alcohol altogether. I went on a business trip to Vegas and realized this fact. One sip of beer and i felt dizzy and lightheaded within minutes. I ignored this feeling because i was in Vegas and paid dearly the next day. For about 12 straight hours i felt like i was going to die. Not a hangover, but this faint feeling that did not go away no matter what i did. I felt this terrible thought in my head that if i fell asleep, well, ... that i would NOT wake back up. As i sat alone in my hotel room in sin city i vowed to never feel this way again. I decided that i didn't need to drink ever again.

It's amazing how clear I feel about this. It's nice to know that I'll be able to go to weekend functions and not worry about feeling sick. I will do more hiking, more swimming, more running, more photography, see more family, more friends and live my life to it's fullest. I already knew i didn't need booze to have fun, i'm pretty fun without it! However, it was such a major part of my social life that it was difficult to give up.

Our pal Evan from Jr. High and High School was born on the 29th of February, so when his birthday rolls around every 4 years, we HAVE to celebrate. about 30 people gathered in Santa Monica to join him in partying. Jennie, his sister, brought goody bags and glow jewelry for everyone. What a blast. Happy Seventh, Avon! Thanks Stacey for the pics!!

for 20 minutes today, all of the Pictagers came together to cheer on their favorite runners. We ran 5 heats and then a final race in the parking lot next door. incredibly awesome! Great pics by Leo Flores :)

Stacey and i went to see Mike's band, Able & Baker perform at 'The Airliner' just outside of downtown LA. They were AWESOME! The bar hosted 10 local bands today, along with some local artists - including our very own Mike Coulson :)

Chinese New Year

We rang in the year of the rat at our place this year. Everyone had to wear a red article of clothing, or make one out of construction paper if they forgot :). We played chinese jump rope and chinese drinking games til we dropped! Good times, good people (only 2 were actually Chinese).

Wayne

I had the opportunity to hang out with 11 year old Wayne this week. Tom's girl, Sharon needed someone to pick him up from school and hang out til she got home from work... so, i volunteered! I work less than 5 miles from his school, and was able to work from Tom's place, so it all worked out perfectly - for everyone. I have to admit, Buster the golden Lab was more trouble than Wayne :) He's a sweetheart and i'm extremely glad that i was able to help out.

Wine

We checked out the Galleano Winery in Corona, CA - which just happens to be within 3 miles of Beth and Danny's beautiful new home. This place was awesome, free tasting and really cool people. I think we overwhelmed them at first walking in there with 10 loud twenty-somethings, but by the end, we walked out with about 10 bottles, so i'm sure they were fine with it. We proceeded to Beth's, played guitar hero, drank more wine, ate pizza, and watched movies til the wee hours. :) Gooood times!
